Gross Motor Skills Checklist: Is Your Child on Track?
Gross motor skills are the big movements that help us move around and stay active. These skills use the large muscles in our arms, legs, and core. Some examples of gross motor skills include walking, running, jumping, hopping, climbing, and balancing on one foot.
Why are these skills important? Building strong gross motor skills helps kids do everyday activities, play sports, and explore the world. When kids develop these skills, they gain strength, coordination, and balance, which are useful for sitting in class, playing with friends, and even staying safe.
To help you track your child’s progress, we’ve included a gross motor skills checklist below. This checklist can guide you to see how your child is doing with their big movements. Use it to spot which skills they’ve mastered and where they might need a little more practice. Remember, each child develops at their own pace, but this can give you a helpful look at their progress!
Check out the checklist and see how your child’s gross motor skills are growing!
